Our Nature Series is back for 2025!!
UTREC is proud to host a six event nature series in 2025 to be presented by Tom Sheppard, Chief Park Naturalist of the Hunterdon County Division of Parks and Recreation. These are free, informative lectures, nature walks and presentations for ages 6 and up. There is limited space and registration is required for all attending (children/adults). Once a session is full, it will be closed (no waitlist).

Reptiles Alive: Turtles! – 4/29, 5-6pm @ UT Municipal Building (with registration now open)!
Join us for a turtley awesome time at our Reptiles Alive class, where you’ll get to shell-abrate these amazing creatures up close! Learn fascinating facts and discover the world of turtles, all while enjoying hands-on fun with live turtles. It’s going to be a shell-mazing experience for nature lovers!

Physics in Nature – 5/27, 5-6pm @ Finn Park
Get ready to accelerate your learning in this interactive physics class, where we’ll attract your curiosity with hands-on experiments and group activities! Join us to explore the forces that shape the world around us and feel the pull of nature’s physics in action!

Walk Around Hoffman Park – Insect Field Study – 6/16, 5-6pm @ Hoffman Park
Join us for our new Hoffman Park walking series for a bee-yond fun Insect Field Study! Kids will explore the great outdoors, bugging out as they walk around and discover the fascinating world of insects. This creepy crawly adventure will make every little nature lover feel fly as they learn about the tiny creatures that call the our local park home!

Reptiles Alive! Snakes – 9/30, 5-6pm @ UT Municipal Building
Join us for our Reptiles Alive! Snakes class for a hiss-terically fun and educational adventure! Kids will get the chance to coil up with fascinating facts about snakes, while getting an up-close look, and chance to touch, live snakes. It’s a fang-tastic way to learn about these s-s-spectacular creatures!

Walk Around Hoffman Park – Birds Field Study – 10/28, 5-6pm @ Hoffman Park
Join us for our new Hoffman Park walking series for a fly time exploring native birds! Kids will explore the great outdoors, winging their way through the park as they discover the fascinating world of local birds. This beak-tacular adventure will have every little nature lover soaring as they learn about the feathered friends that call our park home!

Rocks & Minerals – 10/25, 5-6pm @ UT Municipal Building
Get ready to rock and mineral your way through this fun and educational class! Kids will uncover the secrets of the Earth’s stone treasures, learning about different rocks and minerals while having a granite time. This will be a gem of an experience for all young explorers! Note – this course will be limited to 9 family units or groups working together.

How do I register?
We have a rolling registration for each of these Nature Series programs. Registration will open approximately 3 weeks in advance of the class, and be filled on a first come, first serve basis.
Go to: https://register.communitypass.net/reg/index.cfm
Type in “Union Township Hampton NJ, NJ” for organization and select it from the drop down, make an account if needed, and then sign up as warranted. Once logged in/account made, look for the orange “register now” button. Click it and select the weeks you’re interested in and go from there.
