Our Commitment to Inclusion

UTREC is excited to announce a new position on our team: Inclusion Coordinator!

Lisa Schmidt has officially joined the UTREC Committee, and she will serve as our program’s first Inclusion Coordinator.  The goal of this role is to provide a more supportive and accessible experience for all athletes.  Lisa will collaborate with parents, coaches and UTREC volunteers to help ensure that children with physical, emotional or behavioral needs are supported in our programs.  If you have any questions about our new Inclusion Coordinator role, and how it might benefit your child, please do not hesitate to reach out to Lisa at UTRECInclusionCoordinator@gmail.com.

Don’t know Lisa?  Here is a little bit about her, along with a photo so you can put a name to her face if you see her out and about in Union Township!

Lisa and her family moved to Union Township in 2022.  She and her husband Chris are the proud parents of 4 children who have all participated in UTREC activities.  Lisa is a former educator, and she currently volunteers as a mentor for Rutgers’ NJ Lend Program, which matches prospective physicians and health care professionals with families to help them gain an appreciation and understanding of family life for children living with disabilities.  She also volunteers as a member of the UTMS PTA, and is a nursery teacher at Community Bible Study in Clinton.

As you can likely tell, Lisa is passionate about ensuring that all children are supported and included in our community, and we’re excited to have her joining Union Township Recreation!!
